Miker--
I don't have any paying gigs for another couple weeks that is why I agreed to do the free shoot.
Furthermore, I guess it isn't the fact that I waived all my usual fees it has more to do with the story not really being there or feeling like it is just a stupid idea. At least it isn't a guy getting kicked in the balls....Or a sandwhich chasing little girls.
I simply feel like it is a waste of time more than losing the cash. I am always thinking of what my time is worth and how much I could have made or better things that could be done--Opportunity Cost. Damn my Economics education has haunted me and it was only for a year and a half.
Fortunatly he is taking a break after these two days to regroup and think about what he wants. So I will use this as my chance to find something else to do.
Thanks again
I'm late on this too . . .
I would think one could pro bono one's time hoping for a karmatic return, but when it comes to using your own camera, you ought to at least ask for collateral up front (like the title to his car) so if the camera breaks, it doesn't bankrupt you!
Good topic and having broke my own camera on my own shoot, I'll never do a "with camera" freebie now knowing how much worse off it would been if it had happened on a pro bono shoot.
